چکیده

Anthracnose, which is caused by the fungus Colletotrichium gloeosporides, is a widespread and destructive disease on container-grown azalea. This disease is especially common in container nurseries, which are located near the Gulf of Mexico in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas. Anthracnose is a hot, wet weather disease. This year, frequent showers and daily cloud cover throughout much of July and August across the Gulf Coast region of Alabama incited a severe outbreak of this disease in container-grown azaleas. While Kurume-type azaleas are considered to be most susceptible to attack by causal fungus C. gloeosporides, extensive damage was also seen this summer on the more resistant Indica-type azaleas.

In vitro Evaluation of Some Fungicides and Tea Extract Against Pestalotia sp. and Colletotrichum sp., The Causal Agents of Leaf Spot and Anthracnose of Azalea

The effect of five fungicides and tea extracts was tested against anthracnose disease and leaf spot of Azalea during summer (2015) at the laboratory in Rasht Branch, Islamic Azad University. Commercially formulated fungicides at 1000, 2000 and 3000 ppm concentrations and the regression of normalized growth rate were used to determine the EC50. The application of different fungicides on Pestalot...

Using aesthetic assessments of azalea lace bug (Heteroptera: Tingidae) feeding injury to provide thresholds for pest management decisions.

Research on consumer, grower, and landscape manager perception of azalea lace bug, Stephanitis pyrioides (Scott), feeding and on plant productivity parameters, including gas exchange and growth, has increased our understanding of the nature of feeding injury. These studies made it possible to develop decision-making guidelines for cost-effective maintenance of aesthetically pleasing azaleas. Cr...

Identification of colletotrichum species responsible for anthracnose and root necrosis of strawberry in Israel.

ABSTRACT Strawberry anthracnose was observed for the first time in Israel in 1995. The disease reached epidemic proportions in Israeli nurseries and production fields in 1995 and 1996. Using morphological and cultural characteristics, the species responsible for anthracnose was identified as Colletotrichum acutatum. A reliable semi-selective medium, amended with iprodione and lactic acid, was u...

Azalea growth in response to azalea lace bug (Heteroptera: Tingidae) feeding.

The effects of azalea lace bug, Stephanitis pyrioides (Scott), feeding injury on azalea growth and development were investigated using 'Girard's Rose' azaleas during a 2-yr field study in Georgia Low, medium, and high injury treatments, which corresponded to 6, 8, and 14% maximum canopy area injury, were compared with control azaleas that received no lace bug infestation. Flower number, whole-s...
